Personally I have always had a soft spot for a rescue--I used to volunteer myself at a Thoroughbred adoption program called CANTER here in my home state of Ohio. My own horse Dexter is an off-the-track Thoroughbred, who was rescued on his way to slaughter. So many wonderful horses of multiple breeds find themselves discarded at the track--and the lucky ones are fortunate enough to find loving homes and pursue successful second careers!
